Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre
Register for Series (Free): The Irishing of English Theatre Ireland as a nation has produced writers who, for more than 300 years, have had a profound effect on the development of English Theatre. Over five classes we will discuss the nature of their writing and the influence that each had on the development of English theatrical writing. The five playwrights concerned will be George Farquhar (1677 – 1707), Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751 – 1816), Oscar Wilde (1854 – 1900), George Bernard Shaw (1856 – 1950), and Samuel Beckett (1906 – 1989).
